Course Descriptions & Fees

PADI Scuba Diver:

The new PADI Scuba Diver rating is a pre-entry level certification that allows you to dive under the direct supervision of a dive professional.  The experience also counts toward your PADI Open Water Diver rating. The course consists of three confined water sessions, three academic sesisons, and two open water dives.  Minimum age: 10   Fee is negotiable.

PADI Open Water Diver:

Entry Level certification.  Allows you to buy/rent scuba equipment, obtain air fills, and dive without direct instructor supervision.  The course consists of 5 academic modules, 5 confined water sessions.  Certification requires 4 Open Water Dives.    Minumum age: 12    Fees:   Pool & Lecture- $150.   Open Water Certification Dives: $150.  Fees do not include Textbook/Student kit.  Students must provide their own "personal" gear (dive mask, snorkel, wetsuit boots & dive fins)

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver & Advanced Plus

The next step.   Emphasis on learning during actual open water dives.  Each dive is credited toward corresponding Specialty Diver ratings.  Develops skills in and introduces you to night diving, deep diving, underwater navigation, and 2 to 6 elective specialties.   Prerequisite for PADI's highest non-professional rating- Master Scuba Diver (Advanced or Advanced Plus, Rescue Diver, and certification in 5 Specialties) Fees do not include text book.  Students to provide their own "personal" gear (mask, snorkel, boots & fins) Min.Age: 15

Fees: Basic Advanced (5 specialtiy dives) $150   Advanced Plus (9 specialty dives)  $200      

Medic first Aid*:

Emergency medical skills for the layperson.  Teaches CPR and first aid in an integrated system as used by EMT's, but at a layperson's level.  Not diving specific- non divers may take Medic First Aid, too.  Meets CPR and first aid requirement for PADI Rescue Diver and other programs.  Approved by American Heart Association & Mine Safety & Health Administration.  Fees do not include Student Kit.   Fee: $50  No age minimum

* PADI will phase out the Medic First Aid program in 2003. A replacement course is planned

PADI Rescue Diver:

Rescue Diver is a unique course in preventing & managing diving emergencies.  It provides the skills to make you a safer diver & better dive buddy. Teaches you to focus on other divers as well as yourself, and shows you how to recognize and prevent a diving accident and how to respond if one does.   It is  basic for anyone thinking of becoming a diving professional.  12 open water sessions  Fees do not include text book.  Tanks provided    Fee: $125   Minimum. age: 15

PADI Divemaster:

Turn Pro.  Like most divers, you've probably thought of diving as a career opportunity.  Divemaster is the first step on the professional ladder.  After earning your Advanced Open Water & Rescue certifications, you'll have reached a skill level that puts the Divemaster rating within reach.  The PADI Divemaster program has 3 main phases designed to expand your diving knowledge to a professional level in watermanship, knowledge development, and practical application.  The couse covers the role of the Divemaster, Dive planning, and Dive management & Control. Qualifies you to assist PADI Instructors with students in training, to conduct the PADI Skin Diver (snorkeling) Course, Scuba Review, and Local Environmental Orientation programs   Fees do not include textbooks, Divemaster slates, or equipment  other than tanks.  Minimum age: 18   Fee: $300
